Birthmark
A birthmark is a colored mark on the skin that is present at birth or develops shortly after. They can appear anywhere on the body, varying in size, shape, and color. Common types include port wine stain birthmarks, which are flat, pink, red, or purple patches caused by blood vessels under the skin, and café au lait birthmarks, which are light to dark brown spots that are usually smooth and evenly pigmented.
Most birthmarks are harmless and do not require medical treatment. However, some may change in appearance over time or become a cosmetic concern depending on their size or location. In certain cases, evaluation is recommended to monitor changes or rule out associated conditions.
Treatment Options: Laser treatment for birthmarks.
Our experienced providers carefully evaluate each birthmark and recommend the most appropriate approach based on its type, size, and location—whether that’s monitoring over time or pursuing treatment to improve appearance.
